Industrial Wood Chipper

Industrial Wood Chipper processes raw wood and bamboo into uniform 3–30mm chips using high-speed disc or drum knife cutting. Features belt-drive motor power, adjustable feed speed, and knife gap control. Custom-built factory specifications cover feed opening size, capacity, and power requirements.
Product Introduction

Lvlon makes industrial wood processing machinery in Henan, China. The knife-type industrial wood chipper serves forest protection programs, garden waste stations, paper and panel mills, and biomass fuel producers. In-house steel fabrication and knife assembly. Factory-direct pricing. OEM on capacity, feed size and chip size.

Cutting, Not Shredding

The machine's name describes its principle. A shredder tears material with shear and tensile forces-the output is irregular fragments with a wide size spread. An industrial wood chipper cuts material with knives, the way a plane shaves wood. Each pass of the knife produces a chip of controlled size. Output lands in the 3–30 millimeter window, uniform from piece to piece.

Uniformity is the point. Paper pulp cooks evenly from uniform chips. Panels press evenly from uniform furnish. Biomass pellets compress evenly from uniform grist. Irregular shredder output needs screening and re-processing; industrial wood chipper output is usable as produced. For feedstock production, cutting is the difference between a product and a problem.

The cutting force comes from speed. The knives rotate fast enough that their relative speed against the material is far higher than any shredder's tearing action. The feed enters the roller port and the knives cut it continuously-no stalling on grain direction, no "can't bite" jams. Belt drive absorbs start-up shock and protects both motor and knives.

The Two Knife Layouts

The knives ride on either a disc or a drum. Disc chippers carry knives on a rotating disc, cutting across the end grain of the log-the standard choice for clean, uniform chips from logs and large pieces. Drum chippers carry knives on a rotating drum, cutting along the feed direction-effective on mixed feed and smaller material. Both produce the same 3–30 millimeter chip range; the layout follows your material and throughput. The machine's power train, feed opening and knife arrangement are specified per order-this is a custom-built class of equipment, so capacity tables are quoted against your actual duty.

Two Controls for Chip Size

Two adjustments govern output size. Feed speed: faster feed produces coarser chips, slower feed produces finer ones. Knife gap: the clearance between the knife and the bed knife sets the chip thickness. Material condition sets the starting point-dry wood cuts fine and fast; wet wood and bamboo need slower feed and adjusted gaps. The standard practice is a small trial batch against your material before production settings are fixed.

The Blade Economy

High-speed cutting costs knives. Blades wear, dull, and must be sharpened and replaced on schedule. A dull blade shows up immediately: coarser output, ragged chip edges, dropping throughput. The operating rule is rotation-a working set, a sharpened spare set, and a reserve. Sharpening restores the edge; replacement at the wear limit protects quality.

Metal is the blade's death. The industrial wood chipper cannot process metal impurities-nails, wire and bolts destroy knife edges on contact. Feed material must be sorted or passed over magnetic separation before the feed port. Sorting cost is trivial next to knife cost.

FAQ

Q: Industrial wood chipper or shredder?
Uniform, spec-grade chips for paper, panels and biomass feedstock: industrial wood chipper-high-speed knife cutting, 3–30 mm consistent output. Mixed waste reduction (metal, wood, plastic, textiles): double shaft shredder-shear action handles the mix. The chipper fears metal; the shredder does not. Material composition decides the machine.

Q: Can it handle metal impurities?
No. The machine has strict feed requirements-metal damages the knives. Sort or magnetically separate the feed before loading.

Q: What about blade wear?
Blades are consumables-inspect regularly, sharpen or replace on schedule to maintain chipping efficiency and output quality. Keep multiple sets in rotation: one working, one sharpened, one in reserve.
